We learned that a dear friend of Gary’s passed away while we were on this trip. He went through dive training with Gary in Hawaii. Gary had not had a chance to say goodbye. Knowing that he was in a place, diving, that his friend would have loved brought Gary peace. You have all been a treasure to spend this time with. We will miss all of you! The crew – the attention to every detail made this trip incomparable to other liveaboard experiences. You have set the new standard for excellence. The food – well trained chef and crew were a very pleasant surprise.

We booked this particular trip in hopes of seeing giant mantas close up. This wish was more than realized with multiple dives that brought us face to face with these gentle giants of the deep. I will never forget the feelings of awe and wonder as they slowly swam just over our heads to lazily hover at the cleaning stations. Mantastic! I’m in love! The boat – you’ve already thought of everything! The crew – it was so nice to be with a crew for almost two weeks and see or hear nothing but camaraderie and good spirits. It’s clear everyone feels valued and respected.

The single best dive trip I’ve ever had in my 20 years of diving! Would recommend to anyone! I’ll let someone else tell about the summoning of the mantas via pink toes. My story is more serious. I went on this trip with a recent knee injury. Three weeks prior I tore my ACL in my knee in a ski accident. I arrived at the boat with a brace and a cane. If the crew was at all nervous about my condition they never showed it, which was great. They did however take amazing care of me to make sure I was comfortable and provided for. I’m not a helpless person and I hate being unable to care for myself. Yet this crew took such good care of me, in such subtle ways, I never felt like a burden. That meant a lot to me. This trip was magical! The boat – the support staff is the best group I’ve ever had both liveaboard and land diving. I want to take them home with me!! The diving – guests do not know best: divemasters and hosts know best! Fantastic choices!! The crew – excellent is not a high enough rating. Best crew I’ve ever seen! The food – wonderful!!

My wife injured her knee (torn ACL) two weeks before the trip. This was no trouble underwater but the crew accommodated her disability providing assistance and ice and bringing her gear to her so that she did not have to hobble around. his was above and beyond the exceptional attention to detail given to all of us anyway. From help getting in and out of wetsuits to hot towels and cocoa after the night dives. Altogether the service was excellent. The service and staff were excellent. We will have to learn again how to be self sufficient.

When my luggage failed to arrive in Sorong, the crew didn’t miss a beat getting me clothes and gear and tracking my bag for five days. It arrived in perfect shape, thanks to many watchful eyes. My diving and trip were not interrupted one bit. Excellent!!! Thank you.

At 30+ minutes into Manta Sandy I was certain we were going to have more bad luck, but out of nowhere there was a shadow off to the right behind us and a single black reef manta entered the cleaning station. As we were the ‘lazy’ group we were alone there and we watched as the manta circled the station over and over for the next 12 minutes. On its final pass through the station it seemed to come toward us across the corals, then turn its wings and body up then down, swaying forward as if to bow and wave us goodbye. Then it left as silently as it came: an awe-inspiring experience. Thank you. Everyone did a wonderful job. We had a great time and were lucky to have a good dive group and an outstanding crew. Despite being on a liveaboard for over a week, we never felt cramped, on top of one another or overwhelmed. The crew struck the right balance of helpful or ‘present’ but not smothering!! The boat – good size, comfortable and well maintained. The diving – great sites: it was frustrating to delay due to other boats but understandable: it’s too bad other boats and their crew/guests do not follow common acceptable PADI rules! The crew – everyone did a fabulous job: Wawan in particular was a wonderful divemaster! The tender drivers were always helpful and friendly, the stewards were very polite and helpful and the therapists became my local language tutors!! Cruise directors are very enthusiastic about both Arenui and Raja Ampat! Terima kasih!! The food – chefs did a fabulous job: especially dealing with special requests!!
